The model of this portrait is the founder of Kōwaka, a type of dance accompanied by storytelling. He is wearing a noble's cap and a set of jacket and trousers with the auspicious design of cranes and turtles — symbols of longevity. The pine trees on the sides and carpet-like red rug are unusual elements for a portrait.
