Kuniyasu was a disciple of Horikawa Kunihiro, an influential master swordsmith who lived in Kyoto about 400 years ago. This rare blade is one of few surviving examples of Kuniyasu’s work. Its powerful curvature and vivid tempering pattern along the cutting edge show that Kuniyasu’s skill rivaled that of his master.
