The childlike appearance of this statue, with its endearing face and a short body compared to the head, is a characteristic of this type of statue from the second half of the 7th century. The lines of doubled dots on the folds of the clothing are from a decorative technique that was commonly used at this time. The lotus-shaped pedestal is hollow (the lower part is wooden and was added later) but the main body is solid. A halo was affixed to the back of the head.(20120102_h012)
