Christians pray with a rosary by counting on its beads. Connected with a chain, it also features a medal and a cross. Many of the rosaries in the collection were brought into Japan by French priests after the country ended its isolationist policy. They were then confiscated from Christians in Urakami, Nagasaki in southern Japan in 1867.
