With a name meaning “golden eyes,” this mask features gold applied to the whites of the eyes and tips of the teeth. In Noh, gold symbolizes a being with supernatural abilities. In the first part of the play [Lady Aoi], this mask is worn by the spirit of Lady Rokujō.
